Ray's MTB Park Milwaukee - Grand Opening

by Mike Levy
Jan 11, 2011 at 17:00

The newly opened Ray's MTB Park in Milwaukee will host it's Grand Opening party this coming January 29th and 30th. Events will include a celebrity BBQ where you are served lunch by the pros, a product raffle, and a 'Ride with the Pros' and 'BMX Night'.

Our park opened on New Years Eve with an outstanding response. People have shown up in droves, and are having a great time! We are moving forward with our initial plan to host a Grand Opening celebration on Saturday, Jan 29 and Sunday, Jan 30. The agenda and athlete list has been tweaked slightly, but the overall plan to have a party and celebrate the parks opening is still the same!

Saturday will be a Celebrity BBQ, where Pro riders will be serving lunch to the Ray's customers. Saturday afternoon at 5pm will be a product raffle. Sunday will be a 'Ride with the Pros' day followed by 'BMX Night' from 4:00pm to 10:00 pm. Ray's MTB partner hotels can be found at www.raysmtb.com.

Pinkbike is stoked to be at the event, will you be there as well?

Pretty fun to be able to ride when the trails here are covered in unridable snow. Rode the first weekend the opened up... They do actually have a foam pit BTW

yeah it would be nice this time of year when it's freezing just to go and keep my skills in check. and the most snow ive ever seen here fell yesterday. 6 inches and the roads are frozen solid haha

flag wchatlain (Jan 11, 2011 at 17:25)
Oh no not a whole 6 inches hahaha compared to our 4 and half feet and its -26... Wouldnt mind an indoor park right about now...

I'm just saying its a big deal for us. school was closed yesterday, today, and is closed tomorrow too. we're idiots when it comes to snow haha

flag WestPennHunter (Jan 11, 2011 at 17:28)
For South Carolina 6 inches is a fair amount, and for Canada 4 and a half feet is probably normal.

flag tom-cuthbert (Jan 12, 2011 at 6:04)
 Yes, we have sheep...

Nevermind the vast open spaces, amazing landscape and strong isolated economy... Just come for the sheep.

Because the sheep matter.

The Milwaukee Ray's is a slightly different set up than Cleveland, MKE is a little smaller and also in a newer building than CLE. Its def worth it to visit both locations!
I actually work at the MKE location and I get a lot people that come up to me everyday saying how awesome Ray's Indoor MTB Park is and how just having somewhere to go ride during the winter is great. So all of you asking why is there an indoor park when there are trails to ride, winter doesnt allow mid-westerners to ride all year. So let us, who use Ray's MTB, send a big Thank You to Ray Petro and Trek bikes for keeping an amazing place like this to ride in the cold months!!!
Everyone who can make it out to Milwaukee on the 29th and 30th of January, it will be a killer weekend!!! Hope to see you all there, Ill be one of the guys working behind the counter

i feel sorry for all these "haters" that just dont get it!
anyway just wanted to say thanks to the whole Rays team!

Thanks dude! Atleast there are some people that appreciate the place to ride while the winter months shut midwesteners down... Drewadcock, hope to see you out here soon!

thats sick but there needs to be alot more indoor parks across canada, Calgary has a population of about 2million i think now? (sorry if im off) and not 1 indoor park skate or bike. we've got 1 good park thats way downtown and apparently a few small ones in little towns (a rail or two, maybe a box and if there lucky a quarter pipe. any jumps put up are torn down usually within a week (hidden or not)

yes in alberta there is nowwhere to ride, and in BC its always raining, i know we have it better then you but it would be nice to see a indoor park around where ever it is hard to ride

It's so awesome to see that the idea has been successful enough to warrant the opening of another indoor park. Can't wait to see where the next expansion is going to be at. If the Milwaukee park is anything like the Cleveland park (which it looks like it is) those going are in for an awesome time.

this place would be the best for people who ride bmx or dj, they can ride all the time without worrying about there jumps getting torn down. Where as actual trail riding would be no comparison!

There's some good XC style riding to be had as well. Not to mention some North shore style features.

I bet if you rode this place all winter you would rip up your trails when you got back to them in the spring. think of it as cross training in the off season. a pump track alone is worth the price of admission and would hone bike skills for the trail.

It's a lucky crew of folks who will have access to such a great winter training facility. Spent a weekend at the original Ray's a few years ago and came home a better rider for it.

This is a bad idea...kids nowadays don't go outside enough as it is.

flag mulletman89 (Jan 17, 2011 at 10:15)
Its for late fall to early spring-ish months only, a lot of people cant ride in snow.... Once the trails open, thats when we close. (I agree completely, too many kids stay inside and play video games, eat and watch TV, but thats our job as biking/ outdoor enthusiasts to get more people into our sports and be outside!)
So, in essence, NOT A BAD IDEA at all, its just a controlled environment for kids/ adults to keep their skills up and learn more in the off season.
Don't knock it, til you try it, buddy!
