you gotta be kidding, right? I mean she's nice and all that, but really, no one better around?... or is that you only need one female and some comment space to start being an a**... nvm, PB says I have to keep it civil. btw here come the neg props, but I don't care.
i cant wait to see marc at some point durring the year on atherton project to be like "get these f*cking camras out of my shit" ahhhhhhh atherton drama..... mean while gee will be bitching about how he had a shitty season even though he came in like 4th this year FTW!
props to encorp could not agree more. plus Rachel is good looking i think we all would on here as we all know who she is dont be lying to yourselves about it
Rachel ride her bike like its out of style +1 She's cute and in shape +2 She owns a rabbit pickup on ronal turbos +2 I'd get mad traveling hookups +1 Possible infinite sponsor swag +1
One thing, who gives a shit if she's good looking or not? She is a great rider and must be doing wonders for female interest into the sport by being inspirational to other women. If we bash her, then surely thats just putting other women off of joining the sport?
You dont see people going oh, such and such (male rider), looks like a cows ass... no you see "man he's F***ing Rad, what a legend"
@matt76 your so right. And the rst of you, im sure shes a nice girl but If Rachael atherton wasn't good on a bike you'd all think she was raw so stfu. Neg prop me, gwed.
Man, some people on here... The bike is great hands down. Both of them are.
And for all this Rachel is so hot or on the other hand Rachel bashing...ever thing that she can read all these comments too? You call her not good looking and that's sure to affect her some how. For all we know she might hate having to do photo shoots cause of the sort of people on here that give her a hard time when they have no respect and only want the lady that looks like a porn star. The depiction of what is 'hot' or 'attractive' these days is so wildly blow out of proportion. Have a little respect lads. Seriously.
Rachel can shred it better than you or I and that is pretty damn awesome and you know it.
White Girls Suck, but not that good at it. And they have no ass at all. You guys sweating rachael because she a beast on the mountain? Def hot girls walking right by you every day. Trust me you don't want a girl that does exactly what you do.
Guys your'e actually quite sad to think about whether Rachel is hot or not, You lonley or somthing? Jees lay off it, Rachel is an excellent rider and can own all of us... Comment on the team bike instead being as thats the point of this photo. Anyway, Rant over... I prefer the Commencal but thats my opinin, If GT pays them more money then i cant blame them for the change, Hope they do well ths season
Your right i would have to get wrecked to handle her. She look like my girlfriend from when i was 15 and in highschool. Hopefully she has better skillz.
im undecided about the GT i think the atherton partneship great i just dont think the bike is half as sexy as the old v2 or v3 what ever it was.. just think it doesnt look as flickable, also can some one link me to the bike that dan will use to dirt jump, because i cant be the chucker? can it?
There is nothing to do with the bike's sex appeal... This is an awsome machine, I know because I've been riding one for over a month, and have friends who ride it too. I think Gee will kick ass with this bike, it pedals extremly well, but when you need travel, you have 210mm to help you with major obstacles. I am very excited to see them riding those things!
The V3 may have looked cool but it was a dog heavy and crap as a race bike. The Fury is lighter and super nimble. The boys had offers from all over the place and tested loads of bikes before deciding so look out for the crew to be tearing it up next season.
The V3 is not a crap ass race bike. its not as heavy as you seem to think it is and its as stiff as it gets... The Commencal is a great bike and quit crapping on peeps bikes cuz your gonna hurt yourself.
This isn't an advert for this bike, but I think this paint scheme looks incredible and would allow the Athertons to continue there colour and style, which has become so distinctive in the last few years. And I suppose Marc Beaumont could join in to...
Haha! That's their old bike though, was interesting to see it on the Fury and, in all honestly, I think it suits the GT's frame shape and looks even better than on the Commencal!
yeah that looks nice but when I see an athoerton on a blue bike I immediately think about commencal, because commencal bikes are always blue when someone is racing on them, well now exepted that new yellow taxi paint *dislike*
Meh, I think it's alot better looking then all their other bikes aye (GT's) and also, it's not fair to call the Furry unattractive when the Commencal V3 and Meta SX might just be the sexiest bikes made in the last 10 years IMO. By comparison EVERY other bike is ugly to me. By itself it's a retty sweet and most importantly to MY preference it's CLEAN looking rig (the Fury). As I said, I really don't care for the GT line-up other then the Fury.
Now though looking at the GT site, what I'd really love to see is the Distortion (with all of it's standover and more "hunkered down" looking frame) having the travel of the Sanction (150mm). I don't see the 114mm rear travel of the Distortion QUITE cutting it, and it is, to me, a far better looking and probably riding frame seeing as the TT is super low and looks like you could throw it around easily. A 140-160mm Travel rear-end with the Distortion's current frame shape would be one SEXY bike and I bet it'd be amazing in the sack too
I think it's a good choice, at least for Dan and Marc racing enduro, GT provides some nice options from 140 to 160mm travel Me as an enduro racer I'd love to have that choice, a lightweight 140mm for trans provance and 160 for the MEGA, 150 for superenduro (dan raced a 150mm meta am last year) I don't know about the fury, newer tested it, actually never seen one live. At least Gee said that he likes it so it must be good!
im liking the look of the GT and im guessing looking at it the comiin the background is one of there personal ones as its on older fox forks and a generally older frame but lads lay off the sexism please.
Rachel is cute and ride his bike like its out of style. PLUS she have a Rabbit pickup on Ronal turbos. PLUS you get shit tons of free sponsor swag PLUS you probably get traveling hookups
I am a firm believer of the Indian being more important than the arrow! No matter what company or sponsors they ride for, they still have raw talet and skill and will be top athlete's in the sport!
I think they might have stripped that V2, take a look at the cranks on the GT, look pretty used, and oh look the cranks are missing on the V2, same with the fork I think, they took that new one off and put an old, grey one on the V2.
Yep, looks like they just transferred a bunch of parts from one of their old bikes to the new GT... Hey, that sounds a lot like what I do when I buy a new frame... but that's just because I'm too cheap to buy all new sh**, haha.
the saint rims are pretty poor... just a race rim... i have a set from a v2 i bought from the athertons but the rear didnt last long at all! saint wheels are not anywhere near as good as everyone makes out!
I put my hands a non-Atherton Fury race bike last weekend at Fontucky and had no idea carbon could be so heavy...for what it weighed, it didn't have to be carbon at all.
at least some stylish clothes that fit that bike... I'm used to see them in blue clothes on blue bikes. Well that on the picture is just a testbike anyway but I don't think that GT will give them blue bikes
Continental has new tire casings for 2012. They've gone to UST compatible beads on their tubeless-ready tires with 3-ply casings and 4-ply tread and different versions of the black chilli rubber for different models.
"Finally we can see the fury's real potential with a one of the five top riders" Hey Mick Hannah has used earlier versions of this bike....?! so you don't reckon he could have rode it too its potential
Thank you dfou... Mick flogged that thing with style. Most inspiring runs I saw last season honestly... just always hit a little bad luck or a wrong line and lost his run... always ready for him to click and step up to the podium!
With all due respect to Mick and Mark they're not playing in the same league that Gee(I´m talking about carreer;not if they're good human beings). The facts are, with Gee the will be in the podium for sure, and the bikewill be piloting by world champion that maybe know a couple of thin about racing a bike faster than rest of the dudes in this planet ,the question is how many times?I think Gee will be finish in top three at least
not a big fan of the GTs. i-Drive concentric and pivots get sloppy quicker than usual. nor do I find the dh bike all that aesthetically pleasing. Beaumont got the shaft on this deal. Now second fiddle for sure like Fairclough was on Specialized. I don't forsee him sticking around for the 2013 season. I'd would have tried to schlep myself to Dirt-Norco or Pivot.
Gee had dramas last year due to the fact they were testing narrower rim sizes. You'll notice he had all the "mechanicals"(derimmed) when he was on thinner rims compared to the wider/slightly heavier wheel sets.
i've been dhing for only 3 years and i learned that anything narrower than 28mm is a big no no for dh a while ago... seriously WHY THE f*ck were they running those narrow rims?
the bike dosent look sexy i know tht has nothing to do with the bike its self but sex appeal is also improtanat aswell as the rider i know tht its the quality of the rider and not the bike but were talking about pros here if you compare the bike to the athertons skill its like seeing michael schoomaker `I THINK THTS RIGHT` turning up in a fiat panda to a f1 race!!!!!!!!!!! and speaking about the bike the colors are dull and it looks heavyer than the titanic but all im going to say they hevier the bike the harder they fall and finally why gt of all place to go they pick gt why ATHERTONS WHY GT WHY DIDU PICK OF ALL BIKE TEAMS TO PICK WHY GT ALL I HOPE IS THE NEXT atherton project is as good as the first 3 series
I sore Tracey hannah the other day and her fury was dark blue and look very nice. My only problem with the GT is the suspension design, It adds your entire body wait to unsprung wait which means NO SAG in the rear end.
Really, cause i've had an i-drive which i've only just sold and you get sag in the back end like any other bike, the only thing the pivot's do is stop pedal feedback. Works really well actually, would love to try the fury.
Sigh...nothing like disinformation to slander a suspension design.
Yes, 20 years ago every suspension designer was advocating setting up suspension forks and shocks without any sag, including the GT RTS frame design that won julianna furtado a world DH championship at Bromont in 1992. But that was twenty years ago and nobody has thought that way in recent times other than a decade ago when Giant released the NRS and designed it purely to be an XC frame and to run sagless.
As to the GT I-drives, they do NOT add the rider weight to the unsprung mass of the swingarm. People need to stop confusing a floating bottom bracket (the BB floats off the main frame and the swingarm via a pair of linkages), but its only linked to the swingarm to use chain torque to fight the suspension's tendency to squat under acceleration). Only URTs (like the old Schwinn Sweetspots, Trek Y-bikes and the Rocky Mountain Pipeline) actually add to the unsprung mass. Floating BBs may look like URTs in some cases, but they do not ride like them.
