Aaron Gwin Interviewed By Kirt Voreis - Interbike 2011

 yea, fk... nothing against him but he could learn a bit from Tippie - a guy who speaks and thinks faster than a radio dj on speed, but still has his crazy head equipped with "pause" button and an switch to "listen-mode"

 I don't know which is worst, an interviewer who talks too much or one who thinks he's really funny and can't stop laughing.

 C'mon an interview run by Tippie is a experience in a class of its own, not to get some info out of it... though I'd love to see Sir Attenborough doing an interview with Danny Hart!

 whoa Pinkbike haters out there. I'm a superfan of Aaron Gwin's. I was trying to relate my own experiences to him and we grew up in the same place with no downhills. I'm excited to see an American killing it at downhilling. We had a list of question but decided to freestyle it so it felt like a conversation. sorry bros

 i think it's an attention span thing(or lack thereof), kirt. you're coming from a rider/fan/peer perspective...well...because you are those things. so, why would you interview like a talk show host?

 To me this feels like people's initial response to having Tippie talk to riders and not understanding what Brett is about as a rider and a fan. Kirt has done so many things in our sport and continues to do so and shows his enthusiasm in ways like relating to Gwin - something that less than 1% of us can do at that level. I say great work Kirt and I hope to see more things like this with you in the future.

 After reading the comments I was ready for a shite interview.. turns out it was really good. I would ask 'why all the hate' but this is PB so I guess it's to be expected. I thoughts Kirt's insights and ability to relate to Aaron as another American mtb legend made for a unique interview.

 I was actually really nervous to do this interview because Im such a super fan of Gwin but I was more stressed out on the comments if I did a shitty job. He achieved something I dedicated my whole life to, and never could. Besides, after the amount of concussions I've had, I'm glad I was able to focus as long as I did. Come hang out with me if you want to hear some real blabbering. I might make you laugh.

 I'm a fan of both Voreis and Gwin so I loved it!

 yeah, I guess when voreis interviews someone like gwin it can be more conversational because he has achieved more than many of us ever will. Sure one of us would just ask questions but never be able to relate and share our own experiences to add to the content as voreis has here. good job kirt, not bad for someone who rides bikes professionally not interviews professionally

Kirt was a legend before a large percentage of the haters here were even sweaty sheets in their parents bedroom. IFO learned more about Gwin with this interview than I have from all the other sources combined prior to it.

 Voreis did a fine job interviewing him I think! He seemed pretty excited and a little nervous but who wouldn't be. Plus, Gwin isn't overly talkative at all so getting him to say as much as he did is pretty cool. Gwin's the man, seems super down to earth and just like a really chill guy. Congrats on a great season!

 Sorry we have pride in our country and are happy when someone from here does well. Also I'm pretty sure the fact that Gwin is from America doesn't matter in the interview, but the fact that he did so well this year does. And there are countries in the world, so you should probably get used to that...

 Fk stop being so serious about stupid nationalities... you can take a pixx out of each other, it relieves tensions, but being serious is just retarded. In all of that sht here, the only victim is the Gwinny. Stop with this pride sht, and look at yourself in the mirror, read a bit of histories of your own countries again, there's not much to fkn proud about. Look at yourself and mind your own ass to be as clean as possible. If you have some deep problem with something you have no idea about, count to three and fk off!

 Worlds is a race all about nations pride, it's like DHes olympics, thats why they swap out their team kit for nations colors. Sorry those of us in the USA which is arguably the biggest DH market, finally has someone that is competing on a world scale and doing well. Maybe instead of everyone on here getting so offended that as Americans we are stoked on some US wins, you can get behind you're favorite riders. And yes most of us are Gwin fans, but I guarantee all of us Americans were stoked on Hart's win or any other rippin riders victories.

Let us support our favorite riders as you do yours, chances are our lists contain some of the same names- regardless of country that we or the riders come from.

Seriously, it's only been 12+yrs since a rider from the USA has done anything significant in the DH world. Considering this is our sport from the beginning, you're damned-straight we're going to get a little stoked by Gwin's accomplishments. I'd be stoked about his past season despite his nationality, much like I nearly jumped thru the ceiling for Danny Hart @ worlds.

Long story short - ride more...bitch less.

 I keep hearing people saying about these Gwin haters but I have seen very little negative comments made about him , I get the impression it is just a few over-patriotic and emotional Americans reading too deep into shallow comments made by trolling Euros.

Anyway back to the interview : Awesome to have a long interview with Gwin but I think I learned more about Kirt then Aaron xD

 I thought Voreis gave some really good insight that we wouldn't have heard from Gwin had a typical interviewer been asking the normal questions. all you hating on his interview- you try interviewing the overall downhill champion and see how you fare...

 Let's not forget that Hill will likely be back to 100% by next season. I am really looking forward to seeing how that's going to go down. The others are not that far behind, either. Fark, '12 season can't start soon enough!!!!!!

 Pininator, I'll tell you how it's gonna go down; Gwin will beat Hill at probably every round, by at least 5 seconds. Gwin is likely going to be even a little faster next year, more experienced, so will Hart, Brosnan, Macdonald, and the other young guys. Hill will struggle to keep up with those guys, let alone Gwin. Hill might win another world cup race or two before he retires, but no way does he dominate the technical tracks like he used to. Gwin is going faster than anyone ever, the game has been stepped up from where it was just few years ago. I'm curious to see how fast Minnar and Gee will be, if they will be able to beat Gwin on the pedal courses.

Look at Gwin's arms, those aren't mtb arms, those are moto arms. Dude is strong, and obviously a hard worker. Having the perfect background for DH racing helps too; clipped in and racing the bmx circuit as a little kid, then racing the moto circuit as a teenager. Having Tomac give you advice and help you train has also gotta help too.

 I wouldn't bet against you, Protour - your scenario is the other side of the coin without a doubt.

Still, Hill's 7th @ Worlds is far from insignificant considering he wasn't in form (or fully recovered for that matter). Add names like Hart, Brosnan, Mac Donald and the regular wild-cards to the G's (Gee and Greg) and I can't help but think it will be a season like no other.

 Maybe he's been busy in the washroom!

 What a guy indeed. Great to see a yank back in the World Cup and winning. Us Aussies, Kiwis, Brits and Frenchies needed some competition from the USA! Given the success he's achieved this year, he could've been full of piss and wind, but Gwin seems to be a humble straight up and down all American nice guy. Nice!
